This post is a bit late ‘coz I’ve been busy these past few days. Sandara Park , or otherwise known nowadays as Dara of 2ne1, recently made a brief visit to the Philippines, the country where she first became a star.
YG Entertainment gave the girls of 2ne1 their much needed break after months of promotional activities for their debut single “FIRE” and current chart-topper “I Don’t Care”. As mentioned, Sandara used her 5 day break to visit her friends in the Philippines. Minzi, meanwhile, visited her grandmother. Park Bom went to the U.S., while CL, the group’s leader, spent her vacation in Japan.
This is a homecoming of sort for Sandara. In the Philippines, Dara, where she was known in local show business as the “Pambansang “krung-krung” ng Pilipinas” (National “krung-krung” of the Philippines), was a major TV star and recording personality producing various hit singles before she went back to Korea to study and to become a YG trainee.
The girls of 2ne1, composed of CL, Minzy, Bom, and Dara, performed their hit single “FIRE” at the Mnet M! Countdown stage yesterday (June 18). This marks the first time the hottest girl group presented themselves at the popular weekly music show.
According to YG Entertainment, the Mnet M! Countdown debut was the only confirmed performance for 2ne1 this week. The management company hasn’t decided yet if the girls will appear in other top music shows come weekend.

Just a heads up. The making of the FIRE music video by the hotly anticipated girl group, 2ne1, was already uploaded on Youtube today. It’s just a 3 minute segment thingy and CL mostly does the talking (maybe that’s why she’s was chosen as the leader ). Well, it’s still a good preview from the group until we get to see the girls perform live come May 17th at SBS Inkigayo. Check out the video.
As promised by YG Entertainment, “FIRE”, the official debut single of their newest girl group 2ne1 was released today (May 6) at 11 A.M. KST. The official homepage of the group YG-2ne1.com have been releasing 10 second snippets of the tune since the start of May; the last sampler (which was yesterday) previewed a 1 minute version of the debut song.
But today’s digital release was a big one for 2ne1 fans. Not only did YG Entertainment provide a full version of the debut single, they also presented not one but two versions of music video for the hot-hot single (dubbed Space and Street MV Versions).
With the success of their unofficial single for LG Cyon “Lollipop”, 2ne1’s debut song “FIRE” will be expected to ride the top of k-pop charts in the weeks to come.
2ne1, YG Entertainment’s newest girl group, will be introduced “officially” this coming May 6 with the release of their debut single “Fire”. The release of the single (which will be available on online Korean music portals) will also coincide with the release of a brand new music video to accompany the debut. A re-edit 2nd version of the MV is also planned to be released sometime next month.
YG Entertainment also revealed some of the music styles that were incorporated on the single ‘Fire’. The debut single, the company stated, is infused with a mix of African percussion, eclectic Indian instrumentation, a touch of synth, a dose of hip-hop, and a spell of reggae beat. The song is composed by Teddy Park of 1TYM and choreography will be handled by Shaun Evaristo and Aimee Lucas.
The anticipated official TV debut of 2ne1 is scheduled to be performed on SBS Inkigayo on the 17th of May. Also planned to be released sometime in October is a mini-album of the group which will contain 10 tracks.
